Sazmining is introducing individual Proto immersion hashboards priced at $4,187 each, accompanied by financing and managed hosting services. This arrangement lowers the initial hardware investment, though it does not eliminate the ongoing expenses and profitability risks associated with Bitcoin mining. Traditionally, entering the industrial Bitcoin mining space entails handling noisy machinery, electricity contracts, and cooling systems. However, the new offering leveraging Block’s Proto technology allows customers to buy one hashboard and have its hosting managed by Sazmining. Each Proto immersion hashboard operates at approximately 204 terahashes per second, achieving an efficiency of around 15 joules per terahash. While three boards comprise a complete Proto Immersion Module, customers can start with just one. The financing option includes an upfront payment of $1,397, followed by 18 monthly payments of $155 at a stated 0% interest rate. Additionally, a monthly hosting and maintenance fee of $153 is also applicable, ensuring coverage for power costs and operational support. These ongoing charges play a critical role in the economic viability of the investment. While a lower entry price may be enticing, mining success still highly depends on network difficulty, rewards, uptime, fees, and BTC market prices. A technically efficient hashboard may yield disappointing results for its owner. This strategy expands Block’s potential customer base for its Proto equipment, while Sazmining packages industrial hardware into a manageable service that can be purchased in smaller increments. The convenience and modularity of this offering is its key appeal, but buyers must assess whether the expected mining revenue will sufficiently cover the continuing costs post hardware purchase.
